Election 2008 : Voting Experience

This is the first time I vote in the general election. On 7th March, I took half-day leave and took bus to Ipoh at 4.30pm. The bus station was really buzzing. Lucky I bought the bus ticket few days earlier, if not I won't get a bus on that busy day. Reached Ipoh around 7.30pm and went straight home to have dinner. And at night, hang out with friends at Oldtown Kopitiam Medan Ipoh. The next day, 8th March was the election day. I woke up at 11am and got ready by 12pm. Before breakfast, I dropped by SMGR to cast a vote.

At the entrance, there was a SPR counter to check my serial number and voting room. My serial is 3088 at room No. 5. Then I queued for a while (just 3 person ahead). Once entered the room, I showed my IC and they checked in the list. After confirmed, they gave me 2 piece of card (one for Parlimen and one for DUN) and I walked to the box and draw a cross at the party that I support. Finally, I put those cards into the voting boxes (Parlimen and Negeri) and I went off to have breakfast. The voting process is fast and simple. As a Malaysian, we have the right to decide and choose. I had done my responsibility, have you? If no, please register and vote in the next election. On how to register, go to http://www.spr.gov.my/ to check it out.

Ok, after all that voting, I went back to KL and arrived by 5pm. The election result announce at night. The place I cast vote (Gopeng area), PKR (Parti Keadilan Rakyat) won. While the place I stay in KL was also won by PKR. By midnight, PKR supporters of Bandar Tun Razak celebrated their glory by gathering and lining up cars and motorbikes (with PKR flags) and went round and round the whole BTR area and hon-ed noisily. It was quite disturbing cos it was midnight and most people was already slept.
